FOR CANADIAN MILITARY VETERANS
The history of the military in Canada is one of success and sacrifice. Throughout our relatively short history we have served with honour and distinction asking little but devoting everything to the preservation of Canada and our way of life. Whether serving or retired the bonds that have tied us together were formed in training and fortified in the service of this great country. From Vimy Ridge to Kandahar we are one and the connections that remain join us forever in a world we have chosen and remain firmly entrenched in.
Today there are estimated to be in excess of 700,000 serving and retired Canadian military personnel spread throughout Canada. Although large in numbers the physical dispersion is as great as the country we live in. In this dispersion the voice of the veteran is lost. Speaking strictly in principles we are all familiar with, as a distinct and identifiable body, we lack the ability to speak and act as a unified voice and are therefore unable to project the influence worthy of our size.
The Royal Canadian Legion, in concert with Atomic Motion, has taken the first steps in creating a unified veterans voice - LegionConnect. LegionConnect is a social platform designed strictly for the Canadian military veteran both retired and serving. It will provide the basis for social interaction, a forum for discussion of relative subjects and the ability through electronic polling to voice the concerns of all veterans in a simplified and expedient manner. These are the tools of our times and The Royal Canadian Legion wants to provide all veterans the opportunity to engage.
To begin the process go to http://www.legionconnect.legion.ca/en and sign up. There are no fees and no commitment on your part other than adding your voice to the nominal roll. Select your units, populate your page, engage in relative discussion and participate in actively promoting the information and issues important to you. This is a site exclusively for Canadian military veterans and it is the Legion’s offering to you for the recognition you deserve.
L’histoire militaire du Canada en est une de succès et de sacrifices. Au fil de notre relativement courte histoire, nous avons servi avec honneur et distinction, demandant peu en retour mais en donnant tout pour sauver notre pays et notre mode de vie. Que l’on soit en service ou à la retraite, les liens qui nous unissent ont été créés lors de notre entraînement pour ensuite se renforcir au service de ce grand pays. De la Crête de Vimy à Kandahar, nous ne faisons qu’un et les liens qui existent nous unissent pour toujours dans un monde que nous avons choisi et dans lequel nous sommes profondément ancrés.

Même si leur nombre est énorme, ils sont éparpillés aux quatre coins de notre vaste pays et parce qu’elle est tellement disséminée, la voix des vétérans se perd. Strictement parlant d’après les principes que nous connaissons bien, nous n’avons pas la capacité de parler et d’agir d’une seule voix malgré que nous soyons un groupe distinct et reconnaissable. En conséquence, nous n’exerçons pas l’influence digne de notre taille.
La Légion royale canadienne, de concert avec Atomic Motion, a déjà pris des mesures pour permettre aux vétérans de s’exprimer d’une seule voix - LegionConnect. LegionConnect est une plateforme sociale conçue spécialement pour le vétéran militaire canadien, en service ou à la retraite. LegionConnect offre de l’interaction sociale, un forum de discussions sur des sujets variés et la capacité pour les vétérans d’exprimer leurs inquiétudes de façon simple et efficace par le biais d’un système de sondage électronique. Il s’agit là d’un outil de l’heure et La Légion royale canadienne désire donner aux vétérans la chance de s’impliquer.
