Heather & Hugh Bacon's Donation of Sabre History

Hugh and Heather recently found the 427 website and contacted me to see if I would add more Air Division history to the site. I readily agreed and in addition they provided photos from the final SPAADS reunion which I was unable to attend. The following list is what they have donated. The comments below are from the Bacon's.

My grateful appreciation for taking the time to compile and share these memories of a time in our lives when we were in a unique environment being challenged and meeting the challenge as proud Canadians.

• SPAADS Candid Montreal 2022 - 160 images

  The photos here were all contributed by the attendees at the recent Montreal SPAADS reunion.

• SPAADS Saturday PM and Gala Dinner Montreal 2022 - 56 images

  The Saturday PM and Gala Dinner photos were provided courtesy of Dean Black, Director, Air Force Association.

• Sabre Photos all Squadrons - 348 images

  The 348 images were accumulated from many different sources over the years and mostly forgotten. More recently, Chris Young, 430 Sqn provided some additional photos prior to the SPAADS Reunion at Ottawa in 2016.

• European sky contrails during dogfight - 1 image

  This solitary photo "European Skies - 1962" was a frequent sight on days with persistent contrails. Photographer unknown.

• Dogfight video (MP4) - 4 minutes
  Dogfight video (WMV) - 4 minutes

  The Dogfight video was provided by my old friend Harvey Schaan. 439 Sqn at the Quebec City SPAADS Reunion in 2008. Two different formats because of some difficuly with one of the formats.

• 2(F)Wing video - 15 minutes (MP4)
  2(F)Wing video - 15 minutes (WMV)

  The video "#2(F)Wing Highlights" was created from 8MM film taken cira 1960-62, digitized back in the 90s and edited into a DVD at an Ottawa studio in 2011 when a sound track was added. This latest version is in an WMV and MP4 format, It was first shown at SPAADS Hamilton in 2012.
